What’s it like to live in Firestone?

Smack dab in between Denver and Fort Collins, Firestone is all about location. Living here, you’ll have access to those two major urban centers without the crowding and expense that go along with them. Instead, in Firestone, you’ll still be able to take advantage of growing business and retail opportunities, but since life moves a little bit slower here—you’ll actually have some time to relax and enjoy those Rocky Mountain views.

What types of homes are in Firestone?

When you’re surrounded by Colorado’s open skies and postcard-worthy scenery, home can feel more like a holiday in the mountains. And in Firestone, you’ll find plenty of large homes that fit right in with the region’s wide-open spaces—and that are perfect for growing families. Homes with four to six bedrooms are common, and some properties have acreage and/or room for horses.

Style-wise, many houses fit right in with their surroundings, with attractive exteriors featuring natural materials like wood, stone, or brick. From new homes built near the golf course, to sprawling rural properties, those Rocky Mountain views are never far away.

Whatever you’re looking for, a significant population boom in the 2000s has ensured that this suburban community has plenty of choices in housing. Plus, because of Firestone’s location close to the I-25 corridor, it’s just a quick jaunt over to both Denver and Fort Collins, which offer a wealth of additional opportunities for work and play.

What’s unique about Firestone?

Firestone is a city of firsts. Incorporated in 1908, it had the first saloon, first post office, and first lumber store in the area. Even before becoming an official town, Firestone became a center for coal mining as the site of Colorado’s first production coal mine. In fact, Firestone was named after the Firestone Coal Company and its owner Jacob Firestone. Today, where the coal mine used to be, instead you’ll find the Saddleback Golf Club.

What are the best things to do in Firestone?

It seems like pretty much every town in Colorado has a boatload of outdoor recreational activities to choose from, and Firestone is no exception. Firestone alone has 15 parks — which include dog parks, sports fields and courts, playgrounds, picnic areas, etc. What’s more, the Firestone Trail links many of these neighborhood parks as well as other regional parks, connecting with the St. Vrain Legacy Trail and the Colorado Front Range Trail to extend for more than 12 miles.

For a more rugged experience, you’ll also find a state park within the city limits. St. Vrain State Park boasts 150+ acres of water and 600+ acres of recreational land with 87 camp sites. Between the nature trails, fishing ponds, and wildlife sightings, there’s something for the whole family. You can bring along your boat, jet skis, bikes, or in wintertime, your snowmobiles.

If your idea of enjoying the outdoors is more manicured than rugged, than you’ll want to head over to the Saddleback Golf Club, an 18-hole, public course in a sweeping prairie setting backed by mountains. You’ll enjoy clear views of the Rockies and challenging terrain.

And here’s something the whole family can enjoy—Food & Flick Fridays, which have become a Firestone tradition. After all, what’s better than dinner and a movie? This regular event combines movies in the park with the best local gourmet food trucks. There’s a festival atmosphere, with live entertainment for adults and face painting and games for the kids before the movie starts at dusk.

Is Firestone right for me?

Nicknamed by its city council as “A Community in Motion,” Firestone is living up to its moniker in more ways than one. In addition to offering plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation and fitness activities, the town is one of the fastest-growing communities in the state. Locals are enjoying vibrant, growing retail and business scenes, but Firestone hasn’t lost one of the things residents love most: its small-town, family-friendly atmosphere.

So if you’re looking to make your home in a great suburban location that is an easy drive away from Denver, Firestone is a perfect choice. Whether you’re in the mood for movie nights with the kids; a relaxing day hitting the links; or soaking up some nature by bike, boat, or on foot; Firestone has it all—all that’s missing is you!
