What’s unique about Pine?

Many things make Pine, Colorado stand out from other areas, but one thing that makes Pine unique is the annual Rhubarb Festival. Every summer the residents of Pine gather for this festival that starts off with an all you can eat pancake breakfast. Once you get a full stomach you will be able to participate in the baking contest, where they crown a king or queen and allow you to ride in the parade, which is after the bake off. Smokey Bear and The El Jebel Shriner’s mini cars are some of the entertainment that normally participate in the parade, and after there is plenty of activities to do for the entire family. The kids will get to enjoy all of the carnival activities, and the adults will get to enjoy live music from local bands, and shopping of arts & crafts that are done by local artists. The 27th Annual Festival was held in June of 2014.

 

Where are the good schools in Pine?

In the town of Pine there is 1 school and it houses grades K-5. Elk Creek Elementary School is considered one of the best schools in the area due to the rating of 9 that it received. What are the best things to do in Pine?

If I listed everything there was to do around Pine I could write a book. There is a plethora of outdoor activities that could keep you busy all day and night if you wanted to stay busy. There is fly-fishing along the South Platte River that many residents and guests have loved to do. You can even hire a guide to make the experience even better for you if you are a beginner or just want some extra tips. If hiking is your things, then the Pine Valley Open Space Park or Pike National Forest will provide you with trails that stretch miles and miles. A big favorite is the scenic Buffalo Creek trails that will take you along the Colorado Trail.

If enjoying the wilderness is not what you prefer to do, you can head downtown and enjoy the historic architecture of the many structures. There are bed and breakfasts for you to relax in or you can rent a riverfront cabin that comes equipped with grills, hot tubs, and decks. One of the highest rating restaurants in the area is a Chinese place called Golden Stix. Here you can find Chinese cuisine that proves just because it is located in a small town, it still has big city flavor.

 

Is Pine right for me?

Pine has things for the entire family to do, so there should never be any reason to be stuck indoors with no plans unless you are just relaxing after a long hike. If you are active and love great scenery then Pine is the place for you.
